Long Term Solution

A major solution would be having the government implement online therapy sessions. Younger children in society today are spending most of their time online and by having online therapy programs it will make them more willing to attempt it. Accessibility is a major problem because therapists are not always available and they can be expensive. People, specifically children may be less confident to go see a therapist in person. Online programs can be cheaper than therapy sessions in person and also people will have the choice to hide their identity, as they do not want people to figure out what they are going through and possibly judge them .

Short Term Solutions

Making it clear to the government that mental health funding is a critical part of their lives is important. The government did not know the real effect they had when they made cuts on the individuals using the programs. Additionally, creating non-profit support groups and working with organizations like the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) can increase awareness of the issue is ideal. Canadians can make their voices heard and can petition in their local cities to regain funding. Recently, in the media, more and more social media influencers and celebrities are opening up about their fight against mental health and if we could get individuals that have the stage to make their statement heard globally, that would make a huge difference!
